Local Security Company And College Join Forces In Drugs Awareness Programme

JD Security Services Ltd, based in Dartford, Kent has sponsored a new drugs awareness initiative in partnership with Wilmington Enterprise College. The company has provided comprehensive guidance booklets to the College detailing the hazardous effects of drug use and will be staging a demonstration day involving general purpose patrol dogs and specialist drug sniffer dogs which is designed to be highly interactive, with pupils already eager to participate.

Community Event

Jake Waters, Director of JD Security Services Ltd is delighted to be involved in such a valuable community project - "Sponsoring this programme not only brings a relevant and important educative resource directly to young people, but also provides an opportunity for us to positively engage with the community within which we routinely operate for the benefit of all. The emphasis here is on supporting the College in educating young people in making the correct choices, rather than necessarily policing them."

Mr. Neil Pettit, Head of Personal, Health and Social Education within Wilmington Enterprise College said of the programme - "the College thankfully accepts receipt for this valuable new resource and look forward to making full use of it in our future teaching within our Drugs Education. We as educators of young people take our responsibilities very seriously and understand the need for lessons to be both relevant to the lives of our students and also as up to date as possible. We are constantly reviewing and updating the provision of Personal, Health and Social Education within the College and see this as a constantly evolving area of education. This resource will go someway towards improving further the delivery of this. As stated by OFSTED during their subject review at the College in March of 2008 "the school ethos is positive, encouraging and makes a strong contribution to pupil's personal development. The curriculum is well matched to student's needs and there is a strong commitment to achieving it for all."
