Dog Units

All our dog handlers are carefully vetted and fully trained to British standards BS7858 and BS7499. In addition, they have to undergo further intensive dog handler training in order to be recognised by the British Institute of Professional Dog Trainers. Ongoing dog handler training is also vital, for both handler and dog, in order to keep up-to-date with ever-evolving standards and legislation..

"Daily dog patrols now take place and are proving to be very effective - for example, in the first 48 hours of the service getting underway two burglaries were thwarted."

Dog units generally work longer hours than other units, especially when training, feeding and transportation are taken into consideration. As a result, they are more likely to be in a position to prevent criminal activity, or be involved in the apprehension of an individual whilst safeguarding your premises or property.

JD Security dog handlers are recruited from the home office departments and the security industry, but each dog handler still undergoes a full assessment before they are permitted to carry out any operational tasks. In addition, each dog handler has a very high level of knowledge and experience within the search field, which ensures a professional and efficient service for our clients.

All dog handlers undergo regular reassessments so that standards are maintained at an exceptionally high level and so that the company can monitor the dog handlers progress.

The dogs are also carefully matched to a suitable dog handler, this in itself being an important process as the dog handler and dog must be able to work together as a team.

Even though the dogs are sociable and friendly, they are still working animals and, when instructed, will protect their handler with their lives. Normally the sight of a trained protection dog in an aggressive state is enough to deter any criminal!

As can be seen from the photo above, all our dogs are trained to be sociable and to interact with other dogs. This allows them to work without distraction in environments where people and other dogs will be encountered on a daily basis.
